Who Are We?

‘We’ are Cameron & Brendan…

A couple of mates since way back who have a yearning for exploration & discovery. We began work on Breadcrumbs in 2015, before committing full time in 2016. Breadcrumbs was conceived as a university project with the simple goal of making it easier to discover “your niche” in a place. Sick of generic activities and recommendations with a commercial motive, Breadcrumbs was established to bring about a different way of receiving & sharing experiences that you enjoy!

We love the brand that Breadcrumbs has grown into – a community of explorers, adventurers and doers who love to get out and about!

Cameron Brodie

Cameron began work on Breadcrumbs at uni, as part of his design degree. He wanted to solve the problem of university students struggling to find their niche within their adopted home city. Not only did Cam solve that problem, but he addressed a fundamental need for individually relevant suggestions and inspiration, both when travelling and when in your hometown!

Cam is known in his friend circle for being in-the-know. He can tell you what cafe does the best donuts, which art gallery has the dopest exhibition and which bar to impress your date at. This guy is a walking, talking city guide for Wellington - but he wanted to find a way to extend his knowledge of cool beyond Wellington, by projecting from his interests of photography, art & coffee.

Brendan Platt

Brendan’s involvement comes from a passion for travel & adventure. After spending a couple of years travelling & doing ski seasons Brendan returned to Wellington, where Cam showed him his major uni project called ‘Breadcrumbs’. Brendan’s mind instantly jumped to his experiences travelling & just how much he could have used Breadcrumbs. Sick of dealing with the negative complaining nature of TripAdvisor, the mainstream suggestions of Lonely Planet & the commercialization of booking.com, Brendan knew there was room for a more authentic, organic & positive sharing platform.
